Today as I sat in my room, still in my PJ's at 4 pm, attempting to write my million and one essays, I decided I needed a change. I'm pretty sure I was a few hours away from permanently becoming one with my bed, and my Señora was starting to show signs of concern. So I got myself together, threw on some clothes and headed off to Starbucks. Now normally I try to avoid Starbucks and opt for a smaller, cheaper café that is less busy but today I needed wifi so I had no choice. I braved the masses and got a nice iced coffee. As I was sipping on it, working on homework this obviously American girl kept staring at me. I was starting to get a little weirded out and worried. "Do I know her? Does she remember me and I don't remember her? Is there something wrong with my face?" These were the general concerns running through my head. After about 40 minutes of this she motions at me to take out my headphones and then comes the kicker. In the most awkward tone imaginable she turns to me and goes,
"Do you speak English....???"
Now I'm not quite sure what I found so funny about this, it could be that her friends all laughed at her or just because it was an absurd situation, in Spain if I have doubts about what language people speak I usually just opt for Spanish and let them answer me in their preferred language. In the end it turns out she just wanted to use the outlet under my table. I know this is probably really boring, but it was all I could do to contain my laughter, it must be all the studying. Well if I get enough done I'll be posting about Madrid later, until then un beso!
